Our Story
Nepali Canadian Women’s Society of British Columbia (NCWSBC) is a nonprofit community organization established with a primary purpose of networking and promoting Nepalese women residing in British Columbia (BC), Canada.
Initially, the organization was registered as a Nepali Women Association of BC (NWABC) in 2017 under the BC Society Act. The idea of forming a small group of Nepalese Canadian women was conceived in 2009 to celebrate the traditionally observed festivals by women in Nepal. However, it has now become a common forum for sharing ideas and information amongst our community women.
With over 4000 people of Nepali origin living in BC, NCWSBC recognizes the value of bringing our communities together. The pooling of professional expertise along with cultural and traditional knowledge assists our fellow community members to integrate with Canadian society while cultivating Nepali culture amongst us. The society has organized many events including interaction forums, workshops and Nepali festival celebration.
As a community, we strive to make a positive difference among Nepalese in BC by contributing to the economy and cultural vitality.
