Sunita Tamang, President

Hello everyone,  I’m Sunita Tamang, a dynamic and ambitious graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University majoring International Business Administration. Beyond the academic realm, I have a rich tapestry of experiences that have shaped my journey.
As a former secretary of the Nepali Canadian Women’s Society of BC, I’ve had the privilege of contributing to a community that values empowerment and support. My commitment to making a positive impact extends globally, with a decade of volunteer service with the Daya Nepal Association of France, where I’ve been involved in nurturing the educational prospects of children and women  in Nepal.
My entrepreneurial spirit is fuelled by a passion for event hosting, organizing, and planning. I find joy in bringing people together and creating memorable experiences. Whether it’s orchestrating a seamless event or delving into the world of business, I’m always excited to take on new challenges.
Beyond my professional pursuits, I am an avid reader, a nature enthusiast who loves hiking, and someone who cherishes the art of making new friends. Engaging in conversations about geopolitical global issues is another facet of my interests, reflecting a curiosity about the world and a desire to understand its complexities.
Currently, I am honored to hold the position of President at the Nepali Canadian Women’s Society of BC. It is my privilege to lead this dynamic organization and create opportunities for collaboration and community building. Supriya phuyal, ​Vice-President

Namaste!! I'm Supriya Phuyal, and I moved to Canada five years ago as a student. My family lives in Victoria. After completing my master's in administrative science from FDU, I pursued my dream of becoming a Registered Nurse at KPU here in Canada. Now, I'm proudly working at UBC - Purdy Pavilion for Vancouver Coastal Health. On top of that, I'm also a financial advisor, helping families and individuals secure their financial future.

Growing up, I've always been curious and eager to try new things. I firmly believe that every experience teaches you something valuable and helps you become a better version of yourself. Fun fact: I even won the Miss Disciple title in the Miss Nepal North America beauty pageant held on August 8, 2021!

I'm an ambivert who loves exploring new places, engaging in adventurous activities, hiking, and, most importantly, dancing my heart out. Community involvement has always been close to my heart, and I've been keeping a keen eye on the work of NCWSBC. I've volunteered in their programs before, which sparked my interest in becoming more deeply involved.

With my background in nursing and my natural inclination toward serving others, I'm excited to contribute to the betterment of the community through my leadership, communication, and organizational skills. I'm ready to bring some fresh insights and make a positive impact as part of the NCWSBC team. Let's do this!

Anima Pokharel, Treasurer 

Namaste! I'm Anima Pokharel, a seasoned Chartered Accountant and audit professional with over 9 years of experience under my profession. Currently, I'm based in the vibrant city of Vancouver, where I hold a pivotal role as a Process Auditor in a multinational IT company, specializing in technology audit. It's been quite the journey to get here, but I've always been driven by ambition and a relentless work ethic.

Moving to Vancouver alongside my husband and his family was a big step for me, but I embraced the challenge with open arms. Beyond my professional pursuits, I'm deeply committed to giving back to the community. I've been involved in various volunteering initiatives, leveraging my expertise to make a meaningful impact where it's needed most. Whether it's mentoring aspiring accountants or contributing to local chapters, I find immense fulfillment in giving back.

Outside of work and volunteering, you'll often find me exploring the great outdoors. Traveling and hiking are my passions, and there's nothing quite like the freedom I feel when I'm immersed in the beauty of nature. And when it comes to conversations, I'm all about depth and meaning. I thrive on engaging with others and exchanging ideas that challenge and inspire.

Prashansa Bista, Secretary

Hey everyone, I'm Prashansa Bista, and I'm thrilled to be a part of the team. By the day, I am a student pursuing my bachelor’s in international business in FDU. When I'm not at my university, immersing myself in the world of academia, I find solace and inspiration in the simple pleasures of cooking and drawing. I'm passionate about exploring great outdoors, meeting new people from different backgrounds even though I may come out as a super shy and unapproachable person at first but once I'm familiar I get very comfortable and talkative. My time in Canada has been a journey of discovery, filled with opportunities to expand my knowledge, challenge my perspectives, and connect with diverse communities from around the world. My creative spaces are where I find solace in cooking and sketching. I find that these creative activities, whether I'm experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen or sketching scenes from my imagination,  provide me with a feeling of fulfillment and balance in the middle of the demanding demands of being a student. 
         I believe in the power of continuous learning and self-improvement. This opportunity means a lot for me since I will be learning a lot from each and everyone in the team and bunch of incredible people that I will get to meet.  Looking forward to getting to know everyone better, connect and share experiences with everyone.

Binita Gurung, Director

Hello everyone! I'm Binita Gurung. A compassionate individual with a nursing background from Nepal. I ventured to Canada in 2018. Recently completing the GNIE program at KPU, I'm on the path to realizing my dream of contributing to the Canadian healthcare system.

While deeply committed to my professional journey, I find joy in the simple comforts of home — watching TV, reading novels, and embracing the motto of 'enjoying life and travel.' An avid explorer, I love trying new cuisines and immersing myself in diverse cultures.
